Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (Family Violence)

Course Description

Course Objectives

This 2-day workshop helps the participant to use Solution-Focused Brief Therapy when working with client with family violence issues.

 

Course Contents

  • Assumptions of SFBT and their relevance to the work with this clientele group
  • Relationship between SFBT and Social Constructionism
  • Factors influencing change
  • Importance of language in working with this clientele group
  • Relevance of emotions
  • Assess and increase the levels of cooperation
  • Honour the client’s worldview and the goals of the referral source
  • There will be a combination of didactic instructions, group discussions, role plays, case presentations and discussions.

 

 Who Should Attend

This course is suitable for practitioners in the social service field who are working with individuals, families, groups and/or communities. It will be relevant to those working with children, youth and/or adults. It is appropriate for social workers, welfare workers, counsellors, therapists, psychologists, teachers and anyone else who are interested in helping people.

 

Award

Participants who successfully complete any of the stand-alone modules will be awarded a Certificate of Accomplishment for each module they took.

Participants who successfully complete the full certificate with assessment will be awarded a Graduate Diploma in Solution-Focused Brief Therapy. In addition, the participants will also receive certification from CCPC granting them the designation of Certified Solution-Focused Practitioner (CSFP) if documentation submission requirements to CCPC are fulfilled.
