Program Highlights

Diploma in Digital Forensics and Cyber Security is the application of science to questions that are of interest to the legal system. Digital forensics is the analysis of computers and other types of digital media to determine if they have been used for illegal or unauthorized activities, or if they are the “victims” of illegal attacks. Business and industry use digital forensics to gather internal information regarding intellectual property theft, fraud, network and computer intrusions, and unauthorized use of computers and other digital media including fax machines, answering machines, personal data assistants, cell phones, etc. to assist in employee termination, and both civil and criminal litigation.

Where does it lead?

Digital Forensic is one of the fasting growing industries in Asia, with many career opportunities across private, government and NGO sectors due to the rapidly rising cybercrime rates across the world. Singapore, like many countries around the globe, is at risk of intellectual property loss through Cyber-attacks.

The Singapore government has set up an IT Security Master plan to groom Security Professionals to counter and defend against these “strategic killer” which are affecting numerous sectors including telecommunication, banking & finance, military, oil and gas, and IT among other.

The police have their own Technological Crime Division, but many companies prefer consulting private sleuths like Fazeli who offer confidentiality and discretion when dealing with cases. Police declined to give numbers on cybercrime cases handled in Singapore. But with an estimated of less than 100 private digital forensics experts operating in the country, the industry will need more experts to cope with the rapidly evolving technological landscape.

What will I learn?

On completion of the Graduate Diploma in Digital Forensics and Cyber Security, students will have:

• Understand the technical content of computer forensic investigations and their role in enabling successful investigation and prevention of electronic crimes;
• Appreciate the legal status of an investigation along with current case law and statute in the context of electronic crime;
• Consider risk management in today’s electronic environment and the standards and methods commonly in use to reduce or eliminate electronic crime;
• Gain an understanding of computer networks & the internet and the security and protection available from a range of detection and prevention measures

The program comprises of 4 modules delivered over 4 blocks of 2 full weekdays sessions from 9am to 5pm in Singapore

Who is this for?
