Course Description

Aim &Objectives

This course is aimed at providing the students with knowledge and skills required to prepare them for performing task at technical level in a computer environment In addition, the course will impart general knowledge to enable the students to contribute positively to society.

Course Duration : 12 Months

Admission  Requirements :

  • Age limit 16 yrs  and above
  • Complete ‘O’ level  with a pass in English or Equivalent
  • For Non-STP students, they must complete Secondary or High school education or equivalent with a pass in English.
  • Successful completion of Office Computer Skills in Addison Institute.
  • Other equivalent qualifications deemed suitable by Addison Institute.
  • Applicants without English proficiency must pass Addison Institute English Proficiency Placement Test prior to admission.

Programme Synopsis

Computer Technology :

This module syllabus presents a broad overview of a computer hardware & software. It also covers the variety of computing technologies in order to give an appreciation of the key characteristics of the technologies employed in modern computer systems. This module syllabus covers techniques for the analysis, design and development of information systems.

Business Organisation :

This module syllabus embraces the study of the methods, techniques and practices of efficient organizations and management of business.

Business Communication :

This module syllabus provides a general introduction to interpersonal communication skills in the areas of business and computing applicable for study and work.

Structured Programming Methods:

This module purpose of Structured Programming Methods is to give students a thorough grounding in the key concepts, techniques and methods to have emerged over time as programming has evolved into a process with increasingly formalized

Java:

This module syllabus provides an introduction to the theory and practice of programming using this versatile object oriented programming language.

Networking:

This Module syllabus gives a broad introduction to networking with a strong practical emphasis, the module ranges from the underlying media to the deployment of networks in business.

Developing a website :

This module syllabus facilitate the development of an awareness and understanding of the technical and creative skills required to design, construct and manage an effective e-business website interface. Learners will evaluate existing e-business sites, in the context of cross-platforms and a range of browsers. They will analyse a range of commercially available web authoring software and be required to create a viable, interactive website interface, which meets contemporary web design principles.

Assesments and Award :

•  For theory modules, Students are assessed based on course work / projects / examinations and attendance.

•  Practical course ensuring students are able to apply what they are learning

•  Student exercises are provided within the Tutorial Materials

•  Assessment carried out Locally.

•  Upon passing  exam for all 8 subjects, students will be awarded Diploma in Computer Studies by Addison Institute.
