Course Description

A comic cannot just be told with words, the art has a responsibility to convey setting and mood just as much as any dialogue balloon or caption box. Creating the art and making it look finished for a publisher is a learned shill that this course provides! You will learn the art of character development, story structure, snappy dialogue, plus easy-to-follow sequential artwork, eye-catching inking, clean lettering, and enhancing mood through color. 

This course is ideal for complete beginner as well as seasoned pros already working on their own comics.

  • Conceive of write, develop and produce a comic’s work that in some way explores the specific qualities of comics
  • Gain a grounding scene composition, page design and character creation for comic books
  • Methods and techniques of creating characters and background elements for comics
  • Specific forms of production and publication for digital comics
  • Grasp how comics tell stories through words and images
  • Students will leave the course with a finished page strip of comic book art
