WHO NEEDS THIS QUALIFICATIONS?
The CIEH Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support and Safe Use of an Automated External Defibrillator is suitable for all employees in a workplace where an AED is present for public use, whether or not they have previously undertaken first-aid training.
WHY IS THIS TRAINING IMPORTANT?
The delay from someone collapsing following cardiac arrest to receiving a shock from an AED is the single most important factor in determining how likely the casualty is to survive, and having the skills and confidence to use such a device where it is available can save lives.

The assessment regime for the CIEH Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support and Safe Use of an automated external defibrillator comprises a number of elements. Candidates must
– managing an adult or a child who is unconscious and breathing normally
– managing an infant who is unconscious and breathing normally
– managing an adult who is unconscious and not breathing
– managing an infant who is unconscious and not breathing
– managing a child who is unconscious and not breathing
– using an AED (adult)
– using an AED (child).
