Course Description

Course Objectives

To impart skills and knowledge in the Hotel and Accommodation Services sector, in the area of front office operations – reservations, checking in/out of guests and servicing of guests’ accounts, Housekeeping operations – Servicing guests rooms and cleaning public areas and in the area of Concierge Services – providing up-to-date information to customers and offering a finishing touch to their hotel stay. Participants will also be equipped with skills in interacting with guests so that they can deliver with a winning edge.

Certification

Upon successful completion of the course, participants will be awarded with a WSQ Certificate in Hotel and Accommodation Services. Participants are deemed to have successfully completed the course if they meet the competency standards for each of the seven units in the course outline above.

Singaporeans who successfully attain a WSQ Certificate for the first time after 1 March 2011 will be eligible for a CET Qualification Award (CQA) of S$200.00 in cash.

Admission Criteria

For Front Office and Concierge Service Electives

  • GCE ‘N’ levels with a credit in English; or
  • ESS Workplace Literacy and Numeracy (Level 4); and
  • Customer service oriented and possess an outgoing personality

For Housekeeping Electives

  • Minimum Secondary 2 education and comfortable with conversational English; or
  • ESS Workplace Literacy and Numeracy (Level 3); and
  • Customer service oriented and possess an outgoing personality

Mode of Delivery

Lectures, role plays, oral questioning, projects, visual aids, demonstrations and discussions. To ensure optimum level of attention among the candidates, Ascott Centre for Excellence classes has an average of 1 teacher to a class of 15 candidates.

Duration

Full-time Course: Mondays – Fridays, 9 am to 6pm
