This course provides an introduction to the participants to acquire theoretical knowledge, fundamental concepts and clinical skills in providing surgical assistance in surgical procedure in the operating room.

Course Objectives

Apply the principles of aseptic techniques in the operating room.
Implement the principles of surgical asepsis to maintain patient’s safety
peri-operatively.
Demonstrate the standards and competencies required in perioperative setting in planning, implementing and evaluating care for patients undergoing surgery.
Demonstrate competency of practice expected of a surgical assistant in operating room.
Demonstrate good interpersonal communication, critical and reflective thinking, and application of clinical skills to provide quality care to perioperative patients.
Develop the ability to contribute to one’s own personal and professional development.
